HLR, HSS, UDM Architect

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Analyze, design, implement, and validate the configuration and integration of subscriber data management nodes, networks, and systems spanning 2G to 5G infrastructure.

• Take ownership of the subscriber data management platform across various network generations.

• Oversee the management and operation of HLR, HSS, UDR, and UDM nodes within 2G, 3G, 4G, and 5G core domains.

• Design and sustain subscriber provisioning workflows, which include IMSI/MSISDN management, service profiles, and roaming configurations.

• Implement and validate MAP, Diameter (S6a, S6d, Cx, Sh, Zh), and HTTP/2-based (N8, Nudm) interfaces that connect subscriber data nodes to MSC, MME, AMF, SGSN, and other core elements.

• Develop and utilize dashboards to monitor subscriber node KPIs, identify abnormal conditions, and recognize patterns before they lead to outages.

• Manage incident response for the subscriber data domain.

• Conduct maintenance, security audits, patching, and emergency responses for HLR/HSS/UDM/UDR platforms.

• Perform fault handling and corrective actions at the node, service, and infrastructure levels.

• Lead and participate in project activities, including the end-to-end introduction of new subscriber management nodes.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 10 years of experience in core network engineering with a specialization in subscriber data management within mobile networks.

• A Bachelor's degree in Telecommunications, Computer Science, or a related field; postgraduate studies are advantageous.

• Over 10 years of core telecommunications network experience, including at least 5 years of hands-on work with HLR, HSS, UDR, or UDM platforms.

• Extensive operational knowledge of HLR platforms (for example, Ericsson HLR, Nokia FlexiISN, Huawei HLR9820) along with their MAP/TCAP/SCCP signaling stacks.

• Practical experience with HSS platforms and Diameter-based interfaces: S6a, S6d, Cx, Sh, Zh, including Diameter routing agent (DRA) configuration and troubleshooting.

• Hands-on experience with 5G UDM and UDR, covering cloud-native deployments (containerized/Kubernetes-based NFs) and HTTP/2 SBI interfaces (N8, Nudm_SubscriberDataManagement, Nudr_DataRepository).

• Strong understanding of subscriber profile structures: EPS subscription data, 5GS subscription, IMS subscription (Cx/Sh), CAMEL service data, and operator-determined barring.

• Experience in IMSI/MSISDN range management, number portability (NP/MNP) integration, and SIM/eSIM provisioning workflows.
