This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in South Carolina.
• Deliver specialized high school special education course content in an online setting.
• Provide instruction, support, and guidance tailored to meet the individual needs of students as outlined in each student’s IEP.
• Collaborate with parents and related service personnel to ensure the delivery of appropriate therapies and services.
• Develop compliant IEPs, progress reports, and necessary documentation related to special education.
• Facilitate collaborative special education meetings, including annual IEP meetings.
• Implement accommodations and modifications utilizing assistive technology, supplemental curriculum, and accessible text.
• Adapt Stride K12 lessons and assessments in accordance with IEP specifications.
• Ensure student inclusion and success within the general education classroom.
• Gather data and work samples to monitor progress towards IEP objectives.
• Document parent communications and student interventions.
• Analyze student data to recommend remediation and enrichment strategies.
• Provide both synchronous and asynchronous learning experiences.
• Maintain the grade book and uphold student academic integrity.
• Make decisions regarding student placement and promotion, alerting administrators to any performance issues.
• Prepare students for high-stakes standardized assessments.
• Establish a positive rapport with families and ensure timely communication with students and parents.
• Assist learning coaches and parents with curricular, instructional, and basic virtual classroom troubleshooting issues.
• South Carolina Department of Education High School (9-12) Special Education Teaching Certification.
• Must reside in South Carolina.
• Bachelor's degree required.
• Active state teaching license needed.
• Ability to pass a required background check.
• Capability to work independently, typically 40+ hours per week.
• Ability to maintain a professional home office environment without distractions during work hours.
• Willingness to travel up to 20% for in-person professional development, student assessments, and/or school obligations.
• Proficient in interpreting and generating numeric, tabular, and graphic representations of student data to inform instructional decisions.
• Open to regular coaching from administrators.
• Ability to adapt to change and ensure optimal student outcomes.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Outlook, Word, and PowerPoint.
• Quick to learn and adapt to new technologies and teaching platforms.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Experience with the targeted age group, technology support, online or brick-and-mortar teaching, and online learning platforms is preferred.
