This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Illinois, +3 more states.
• Deliver specific course material in a virtual setting.
• Provide instruction, support, and guidance tailored to the individual needs outlined in students’ IEPs.
• Communicate with parents and related service professionals to coordinate suitable therapies.
• Develop compliant IEPs, progress reports, and necessary special education documentation.
• Facilitate and lead collaborative special education meetings, including annual IEP sessions.
• Implement accommodations and modifications using assistive technology, supplemental curriculum, and accessible materials.
• Adjust lessons and assessments based on student IEPs.
• Ensure student inclusion and success in the general education environment.
• Gather data and work samples to track progress towards IEP goals.
• Document parent interactions and student interventions.
• Analyze student data to recommend remediation and enrichment strategies.
• Provide both synchronous and asynchronous learning experiences.
• Maintain the grade book and uphold academic integrity.
• Make decisions regarding student placement and promotion while informing administrators of performance issues.
• Prepare students for high-stakes standardized assessments.
• Establish a positive rapport with families and maintain communication with students and learning coaches/parents.
• Assist learning coaches/parents with curricular, instructional, and basic virtual classroom troubleshooting.
• Travel up to 20% for professional development, student assessments, or school-related obligations.
• Bachelor’s degree.
• Active State Special Education teaching license.
• Six (6) months of student teaching experience.
• Ability to pass required background checks.
• Certification in Special Education.
• If certification is from another state, obtain Indiana reciprocity within 60 days of employment.
• Capacity to work independently, typically exceeding 40 hours per week.
• Ability to maintain a professional, distraction-free home office during working hours.
• Willingness to travel up to 20% of the time.
• Experience with the designated age group.
• Experience teaching in an online environment or in a traditional classroom setting.
• Familiarity with online learning platforms.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Outlook, Word, and PowerPoint.
• Ability to quickly learn and adapt to new technologies and teaching platforms.
• Strong written and verbal communication abilities.
• Capacity to collaborate with other educators and utilize student data to inform instructional decisions.
• Ability to assist adults and children in using technology.
