High School Social Studies Teacher

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Idaho, +2 more states.

📋 Description

• Facilitate a homeroom of students, serving as a mentor and role model throughout the academic year.

• Conduct weekly homeroom LiveLessons.

• Assist students and their families through Welcome Calls, Intent to Return, monthly WSLP Progress Checks, academic support, skill development, and graduation/promotion.

• Deliver at least one synchronous LiveLesson per course each week, or integrate LiveLessons with office hours.

• Produce asynchronous support videos as necessary.

• Provide differentiated Tier 1 instruction and collaborate on developing and implementing Tier 2 and Tier 3 interventions.

• Monitor student progress and offer small-group synchronous instruction.

• Evaluate submitted assignments within 8 days and provide clear, constructive feedback.

• Review curriculum and create alternative lesson presentations and learning strategies.

• Assist students and caretakers with alternative lessons, assessments, daily assignments, and projects.

• Collaborate with instructional staff and specialists to create enrichment activities and program adjustments.

• Maintain regular communication with caretakers, students, and instructional staff via computer and telephone.

• Meet individually with each content-area student at least once per semester.

• Record all attempted and completed contacts within 24 hours.

• Organize and participate in social activities and relevant field trips.

• Establish and uphold a virtual school community.

• Engage in state testing, including in-person WIDA and/or SBAC/WCAS proctoring.

• Participate in student recruitment sessions and marketing initiatives.

• Collaborate on IEP and 504 teams, providing insights into student progress.

• Analyze student progress data and SMART goals within a professional learning community.

• Work alongside Advisory Teachers and School Counselors to enhance student and family communications and progress.

• Attend in-person training sessions and team-building events.

• Report and refer critical incidents impacting student well-being.

• Engage in professional development and training initiatives.

• Fulfill assigned school-wide representative or Career Ladder responsibilities.

• Execute other duties as assigned.

⛳️ Requirements

• Valid Washington teacher certification in Social Studies.

• Residency in Washington is preferred.

• Proven ability to be a team player with flexibility and capacity to thrive in a fast-paced environment.

• Proficient in technology, particularly Microsoft Office, Google Suite, Zoom, Nearpod, spreadsheets, databases, and data analysis tools.

• Exceptional oral and written communication abilities.

• Capable of effectively communicating with staff, students, and families from diverse cultural, ethnic, and linguistic backgrounds.

• Strong attention to detail, along with excellent time management and organizational skills.

• Ability to work independently.

• Willingness to travel for one, possibly two, weeks for key school events, including overnight stays.
