High School Science Teacher

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Michigan.

📋 Description

• Deliver specialized high school science curriculum content in a virtual setting

• Facilitate both synchronous and asynchronous learning experiences

• Tailor learning and differentiate instruction based on student proficiency

• Enhance course materials utilizing approved synchronous and asynchronous resources

• Manage the grade book while ensuring student academic integrity

• Make decisions regarding student placement and promotion

• Track student progress through the learning management system

• Notify administrators of any concerns regarding student performance and advancement

• Prepare students for high-stakes standardized assessments

• Foster and maintain positive relationships with families

• Communicate promptly with students and learning coaches/parents

• Assist learning coaches/parents with curricular, instructional, and basic virtual classroom troubleshooting

• Travel as necessary for professional development, student assessments, and school events

⛳️ Requirements

• Must be a resident of Michigan

• Valid Michigan Teaching Certification is mandatory

• A Biology Science endorsement is required

• Bachelor's degree is necessary

• Active state teaching license is essential

• Must be able to pass the required background check

• Capable of working independently, typically 40+ hours per week

• Ability to maintain a distraction-free professional home office during working hours

• Must be able to adhere to the school-defined schedule, generally 9–5 or 8–4

• Willingness to travel as needed, averaging once per month and/or around 20% of the time

• Experience working with the specified age group

• Proficient in supporting both adults and children in using technology

• Experience in teaching online/virtually and/or in a traditional classroom setting

• Familiarity with online learning platforms is necessary

• Ability to interpret and create numeric, tabular, and graphical student data representations

• Expertise in utilizing student data to inform instructional choices

• Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Outlook, Word, and PowerPoint

• Quick learner with the ability to adapt to new technologies and teaching platforms

• Capable of maintaining teaching certification/professional development hours and fluency in K12 systems, programs, and curriculum
