This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in North Carolina.
• Deliver course content effectively within an online setting.
• Provide instruction, support, and mentorship to students.
• Manage the learning experience while concentrating on the unique needs of each student.
• Track student progress using Stride K12’s learning management system.
• Collaborate closely with students and their parents or learning coaches to facilitate each student’s learning towards predefined goals.
• Occasionally travel throughout the year for various school events, including state testing, or as required by the institution.
• Create engaging synchronous and asynchronous learning experiences for students.
• Commit to personalizing education for every student.
• Uphold a belief in the potential of all students to achieve and meet high expectations.
• Differentiate instruction based on each student’s level of mastery.
• Maintain a grade book that ensures academic integrity, make decisions regarding student placement and promotion, and notify administrators of any concerns regarding student performance and progress.
• Prepare students for high-stakes standardized tests.
• Recognize that a primary responsibility is to cultivate and sustain positive relationships with families, while consistently communicating and responding to students and learning coaches/parents in a timely manner.
• Assist learning coaches/parents with issues related to student curriculum and instruction, as well as basic troubleshooting in a virtual classroom that aligns with academy policies and procedures.
• Travel as needed for in-person professional development, student testing, and other school-related responsibilities.
• Bachelor’s degree.
• Valid state teaching license.
• Ability to pass the required background check.
• Experience working with the specified age group.
• Experience assisting adults and children with technology use.
• Experience teaching in both online (virtual) and traditional classroom settings.
• Familiarity with online learning platforms.
• Capacity to collaborate with fellow teachers to analyze and produce numeric, tabular, and graphic representations of student data, using it to inform instructional strategies.
• Open to regular coaching sessions with administrators and teacher trainers.
• Ability to adapt to change and maintain a focus on achieving excellent student outcomes.
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Outlook, Word, and PowerPoint.
• Quick to learn and adapt to new technologies and teaching platforms.
• Ability to maintain teacher certification/professional development hours and proficiency in K12 systems, programs, and curriculum.
