This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Virginia.
• Develop plans for postsecondary opportunities (including enrollment in education, military enlistment, or workforce employment)
• Implement strategies for academic achievement
• Manage emotions and utilize interpersonal skills effectively
• Guide students and families in preparing for college and career paths
• Conduct quarterly meetings with all students in the caseload to assess graduation plans and post-secondary choices
• Provide classroom instruction aligned with student success benchmarks
• Review transcripts and academic records for both new and returning students
• Collaborate with teaching staff to create a four (4) year graduation plan and audit student schedules to ensure graduation candidacy in accordance with school and state regulations
• Assist students with course placement, including recommendations for Advanced Placement (AP) options and pathways to enhance and challenge student learning experiences
• Analyze student data and design data-informed programs for intervention action plans
• Offer short-term counseling to students and make referrals for long-term support when necessary
• Establish a support system that bolsters the efforts of teachers, staff, and parents
• Willingness to travel up to 20% of the time for in-person professional development, student assessments, and as required by the school
• Bachelor's degree
• Three (3) years of experience in counseling and/or advisement
• Valid School Counselor License
• Capability to pass the required background check
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, web-based search engines, and database management systems
• Flexible scheduling with the ability to travel as necessary
• Master’s degree in school counseling
• Experience with distance learning methodologies
• Advanced coursework in counseling and educational administration
