This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Michigan.
• Enhance student achievement through a well-rounded school counseling initiative.
• Assist students in planning for postsecondary education, military service, employment, academic success, emotional regulation, and interpersonal development.
• Direct students and families towards college and career preparedness.
• Conduct quarterly meetings with assigned students to assess graduation strategies and postsecondary choices.
• Provide classroom instruction aligned with student success criteria.
• Evaluate transcripts and other academic records.
• Collaborate with faculty on developing four-year graduation plans and reviewing student schedules.
• Aid in course selection, Advanced Placement suggestions, and enriched educational pathways.
• Review student data to create data-informed intervention plans.
• Offer short-term counseling and referrals for long-term assistance.
• Assist teachers, staff, and parents in their roles.
• Contribute to standardized testing, parent education, and professional development for staff.
• Advocate for students during individualized education plan meetings and other student-centric gatherings.
• Facilitate goal setting and academic planning for college and career readiness.
• Travel up to 20% for in-person professional development, student assessments, and school obligations.
• Required Michigan School Counselor Certification.
• Must be a resident of Michigan.
• Bachelor's degree.
• Minimum of three (3) years of experience in counseling and/or advisement.
• Valid School Counselor License.
• Capability to pass necessary background checks.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, online search engines, and database management systems.
• Flexible schedule with the ability to travel as necessary.
• Capacity to work independently, generally exceeding 40 hours per week.
• Ability to maintain a focused and professional home office during working hours.
• Master’s degree in school counseling.
• Experience in remote learning environments.
• Advanced studies in counseling and administration.
• Teaching experience is preferred.
• Customer service experience is advantageous.
• Familiarity with local, state, and federal regulations and mandatory reporting is desired.
• Experience in charter schools is preferred.
• Familiarity with state career planning systems, Pathfinder, or similar career planning tools is beneficial.
