High School Computer Science Instructor – Florida Certified

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Florida.

📋 Description

• Creates an educational environment where students can reach their full potential in intellectual, emotional, physical, and psychological growth.

• Designs and implements an instructional program that enables students to achieve academic success in alignment with FLVS and state regulations.

• Plan, prepare, and execute instructional activities that foster a climate where students are actively engaged in meaningful learning experiences.

• Identify, select, develop, and adapt instructional resources to cater to the diverse backgrounds, learning styles, and special needs of students.

• Assist in evaluating changing curricular demands and propose plans for enhancement.

• Maintain efficient and effective record-keeping systems.

• Foster a positive environment that encourages students to actively participate in the learning process.

• Communicate with students, parents, and both internal and external professionals within established timelines.

• Collaborate with colleagues to improve the instructional environment for students by engaging in activities such as team teaching, meetings, staff development, communities of practice, and various committees.

• Exemplify professional and ethical standards when interacting with students, parents, colleagues, and community members.

• Ensure continuous and appropriate student growth and achievement according to age group, subject area, and/or program classification.

• Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with students, parents, schools, and colleagues, as measured by FLVS district/school survey results.

• Achieve specific course and school-wide student performance objectives.

• Demonstrate improvements in student performance.

• Engage in research and presentations related to online teaching, which may include activities such as authoring articles, conducting workshops, sharing professional development information, and participating in student outreach events.

• Participate in blended learning models, which include both online and classroom instruction and interaction with students from various schools and districts across the state; may be required to report to a designated school.

• May be responsible for providing instructional tutoring.

• Fulfill professional obligations through effective work habits such as meeting deadlines, adhering to schedules, coordinating resources and meetings promptly, and demonstrating respect for others.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree.

• Valid Florida Professional Teaching Certificate in the assigned content area OR proof of active enrollment in a state-approved EPI or MAT program AND either a valid Florida state-issued Statement of Eligibility OR a valid Temporary Certificate in the assigned content area.

• Endorsements as mandated by the Florida Department of Education.

• Preferred three years of teaching experience.

• Operational knowledge of the Internet and web-related technologies.

• Strong verbal and written communication skills.

• Ability to work independently with minimal direct supervision.

• Proven capability to collaborate on group projects and work effectively as part of a team.

• Must demonstrate responsibility, accountability, and self-motivation.

• Exhibit a strong work ethic aimed at achieving school objectives.

• Effective prioritization, organization, and time-management skills; ability to meet challenging deadlines.

• Capacity to learn and apply all required and recommended FLVS computer applications to enhance efficiency and consistency in internal workflows and instructional practices.

• Proven ability to effectively support the FLVS core competencies, values, and expectations for student-centered behaviors.
