Health IT Data Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Virginia.

📋 Description

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable data pipelines for the ingestion, transformation, validation, and storage of data from various internal and external systems.

• Enhance enterprise analytics platforms by optimizing data models, schemas, and performance for reporting and dashboard purposes.

• Implement processes for data validation, reconciliation, and quality control to ensure the accuracy, completeness, and reliability of IHSC data assets.

• Facilitate the integration of healthcare, operational, and administrative data sources in accordance with the enterprise data strategy.

• Collaborate with Data Strategists, Data Analysts, and Solutions Developers to support analytics use cases and reporting requirements.

• Maintain comprehensive documentation for data architectures, pipelines, transformations, and their dependencies.

• Assist in data governance initiatives, focusing on metadata management, auditability, and lineage tracking.

• Ensure that data solutions adhere to federal security, privacy, and regulatory standards.

• Help troubleshoot data issues and support operational continuity.

⛳️ Requirements

• Extensive experience with SQL, relational databases, and data modeling.

• Proficiency in designing ETL/ELT pipelines and data integration workflows, including scripted development (e.g., Python).

• Familiarity with cloud-based analytics and data platforms.

• Knowledge of healthcare or enterprise data environments.

• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and documentation skills.

• Ability to collaborate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

• Capability to work within government oversight and approval processes, including securing written authorization before production deployment.

• Must be able to obtain and maintain a DHS/ICE fitness determination (public trust) and sign a DHS Non-Disclosure Agreement.
