This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Alabama.
• Process and handle requests for patient health information in line with Company and Facility policies and procedures.
• Ensure confidentiality and security regarding all privileged information.
• Maintain a thorough understanding of Company and facility software.
• Comply with the Company's and Customer facilities' Code of Conduct and associated policies.
• Notify the manager of work-related challenges, site issues, and/or variable workloads.
• Assist with additional tasks or responsibilities as necessary.
• Consistently apply medical privacy regulations to prevent unauthorized disclosures.
• Manage patient health records effectively.
• Safeguard patient records while ensuring adherence to HIPAA standards.
• Prepare new patient charts by collecting documents and information from both paper sources and electronic health records.
• Ensure that medical records are organized in a standard order and are accurate and complete.
• Create digital images of documents to be stored in the electronic medical record system.
• Respond to requests for patient records, both from within the facility and from external sources, retrieving and transmitting them appropriately.
• Handle inbound and outbound calls.
• May assist with patients who walk in.
• May help with administrative tasks, such as managing faxes, sorting mail, and performing data entry.
• Must meet productivity expectations as specified for the particular site.
• May schedule pick-up appointments.
• Other responsibilities as assigned.
• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Ability to travel between locations as necessary.
• Willingness to work overtime during peak periods when needed.
• Basic computer skills are essential.
• Comfortable using phones, fax machines, printers, and other standard office equipment on a regular basis.
• Professional verbal and written communication skills in English.
• Detail-oriented with a focus on accuracy and compliance in medical records.
• Strong data entry capabilities.
• Ability to work with minimal supervision while adapting to changing priorities and role requirements.
• Strong organizational skills to manage multiple tasks effectively.
• Capable of responding to requests in a fast-paced environment.
• Comprehensive onsite/virtual training program followed by job shadowing with an assigned mentor.
