This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Belgium.
• Oversee, analyze, and communicate modifications in global regulatory policies, providing counsel to executive leadership on potential regulatory risks and opportunities, while spearheading initiatives to influence regulatory frameworks and monitoring regulatory changes to ensure proactive compliance as needed.
• Lead or engage in interactions with regulatory agencies and advocacy efforts concerning legislation pertinent to this sector.
• Collaborate with relevant regulatory authorities, industry organizations, collaborative communities, and policymakers to shape the regulatory environment for AI and P2P.
• Direct the development and implementation of regulatory strategies, identifying preferred markets for operation, and ensuring the organization’s preparedness for compliance with applicable national and international regulations.
• Work alongside internal teams (e.g., R&D, legal, compliance) at Tether and with partners to integrate regulatory considerations into the design and deployment of AI models and technologies, where applicable.
• Serve as a thought leader both externally and within the organization, educating internal teams on regulatory issues, trends, and best practices in the AI and P2P sectors.
• Demonstrated experience in a senior regulatory position, preferably within the technology, AI, or digital sectors.
• In-depth understanding of global AI regulations, data privacy laws (e.g., GDPR), and emerging trends in AI and P2P governance.
• A legal, compliance, or policy background with a thorough understanding of ethical AI principles is advantageous.
• Proven knowledge of decentralized, self-sovereign, and locally executed AI/P2P architectures—and the regulatory implications of these models—as opposed to traditional centralized platform approaches.
• Experience working with regulators and government entities, advocating and advising in a regulatory capacity, with a track record of securing favorable policy outcomes on behalf of an organization.
• Proficient in preparing intricate regulatory documents and other substantial regulatory submissions, including managing interactions with regulatory authorities.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Law, Policy, Computer Science, or related disciplines.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to distill complex regulatory topics for non-technical audiences.
• Proven capability to manage multiple stakeholders across international borders and time zones.
• Outstanding communication skills, both written and verbal, with experience in public speaking and representing organizations in regulatory dialogues.
