Head of R&D – AI Integrations

📋 Description

• Collaborate with executive leadership to establish product architecture, the company's vision, and long-term technical strategy, emphasizing AI-driven modernization throughout the platform.

• Convert strategic goals into actionable global R&D roadmaps, pinpointing key opportunities for Generative AI and predictive modeling to improve endpoint collection.

• Lead global, cross-functional software development and engineering test teams to deliver high-quality, well-architected solutions that integrate AI/ML frameworks.

• Maintain a balance between innovation and operational excellence by sustaining current platforms while broadening next-generation AI-augmented product offerings.

• Take ownership of global R&D budget planning and resource management, ensuring sufficient investment in AI infrastructure, data science talent, and emerging technologies.

• Cultivate a high-performance culture centered on technical excellence, innovation, accountability, and the ethical application of AI in clinical environments.

• Oversee administrative R&D functions, including talent acquisition for specialized AI/ML roles, professional development, and technical training.

• Ensure strict compliance with SOPs and SWIs, encouraging consistent quality and regulatory adherence for AI-enabled medical software.

• Act as a senior escalation point among customers, Operations, and Engineering, incorporating feedback into the software development lifecycle to enhance AI model performance.

• Provide clear reporting on delivery status, risk mitigation, and the ROI of AI/ML initiatives.

• Build and manage strategic partnerships with technology providers and vendors to strengthen internal AI capabilities and cloud-native services.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in an IT-related, scientific, or technical discipline, or equivalent professional experience.

• Over 15 years of experience leading enterprise-level R&D organizations or large-scale strategic technology initiatives.

• Proven track record in managing the complete product engineering lifecycle utilizing Agile methodologies, with a focus on MLOps and CI/CD for AI.

• Extensive experience in delivering solutions in cloud environments (AWS/Azure), IaaS, and PaaS, particularly leveraging cloud-native AI/ML services (e.g., SageMaker, Azure AI).

• Strong background in managing teams that operate under formal Product and Development Lifecycles, including the validation of AI models in regulated settings.

• Knowledge of the evolving AI landscape with demonstrated experience in implementing AI within regulatory frameworks preferred.

• Proven success in people leadership, managing geographically diverse teams, organizational development, and overseeing data science and engineering teams in complex environments.

• In-depth knowledge of enterprise solution architecture, data privacy (GDPR/HIPAA), and information security standards as they relate to large language models (LLMs) and data processing.

• Strong analytical, decision-making, and problem-solving abilities.

• Experience in life sciences, clinical trials, or other regulated industries preferred.

• Familiarity with clinical data transfer, storage standards, and regulated software risk management for algorithmic decision-making.
