This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Gibraltar.
• Define the quality framework: take ownership of coverage standards (unit, service, integration, end-to-end), gate criteria, and the quality contributions to the function-level Definition of Done, in alignment with the Head of Engineering for backend and Head of Frontend Engineering for client-side.
• Establish coverage baselines: set measurable coverage thresholds for each service and tribe, ensuring trend visibility, and promote adoption across teams.
• Exercise pre-release veto authority: possess and utilize the power to block releases when quality gates are not satisfied. Take charge of the automated tools that enable this veto to be self-triggering rather than reliant on an individual.
• Develop AI-assisted test tooling: establish and lead the framework for automated test generation, regression coverage, integration test tooling, and the agentic QA pipeline. You will be the designer and driving force; implementation will be a collaborative effort involving Platform, backend, web, and mobile engineers.
• Facilitate SAT enablement: create the training, documentation, tools, and templates that empower Stream Aligned Team engineers to perform quality work independently, eliminating the need for a separate QA function.
• Formulate test environment strategy: collaborate with the Head of Platform Engineering on dedicated QA environments, test data management, and integration test infrastructure.
• Oversee quality posture reporting: manage metrics such as defect escape rate, coverage trends, release veto rate, AI tooling adoption progress, and the percentage of releases that require no manual quality intervention.
• Integrate security testing: partner with the Security team on SAST, DAST, and dependency scanning as integral components of the quality gate.
• Over 8 years in software quality engineering, with a proven track record of owning quality frameworks within engineering organizations, beyond merely managing a QA team or conducting manual test cycles.
• Hands-on experience in building CI/CD quality gates across various levels: unit, service, integration, and end-to-end. You understand where tests fit in a pipeline and how to ensure they reliably block releases.
• Practical experience with AI-assisted test tooling, LLM-driven test generation, agentic QA pipelines, or similar technologies. While you may not have deployed a production-grade system, you possess a genuine perspective and hands-on experience.
• Proven capability to elevate quality standards without direct reporting authority; you have influenced engineering teams through enhanced tooling, documentation, and frameworks, rather than relying on positional power.
• Strong grasp of distributed, event-driven microservices architectures and the testing requirements they entail: contract testing, consumer-driven contracts, and integration test data strategies.
• Experience in defining and monitoring quality metrics: defect escape rate, coverage baselines, and release veto rates. You have transformed quality into a measurable aspect.
• Excellent written communication skills, with the ability to produce coverage standards, gate criteria documents, or enablement guides that engineers find useful and engaging.
• Background in regulated fintech, payments, or banking sectors, with a strong focus on mobile-first product delivery. You understand the critical nature of quality failures in contexts involving customer funds, especially within the specific constraints and user expectations of mobile applications.
• Shape the Future
• Great work-life balance
• Expect Excellence
