Head of Philanthropy Advisory Team

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Georgia.

📋 Description

• Actively participate as a member of the Advancement Leadership Team.

• Lead a team of major and mid-level gift officers by facilitating team meetings; providing regular coaching centered on ministry to donors through the donor cycle fundamentals; delivering training programs for ongoing education; establishing expectations, and ensuring accountability through performance reviews and improvement plans as necessary.

• Create strategies for each donor tier to achieve annual and five-year objectives.

• Update and apply quantitative metrics analysis to set priorities, activities, and accountability measures.

• Manage a portfolio of up to 25 principal and major funders (households, foundations, etc.) by developing and implementing a moves management plan for each portfolio.

• Collaborate with relevant stakeholders, including the President/CEO, communications and stewardship teams, and OM fields globally to achieve goals.

• Meet revenue targets.

• Work with other OM USA teams to provide resources and systems infrastructure that support the team in meeting revenue objectives.

• Immerse yourself in OM USA culture and integrate that culture into the Philanthropy Advisory Team.

• Educate and motivate both the immediate and broader team regarding the benefits and logistics of non-cash giving (such as stocks, real estate, business interests, QCDs, bequests, etc.).

• In partnership with the Chief Advancement Officer, marketing team, and Advancement Operations team, analyze metrics of the organizational donor base to identify opportunities for improved donor engagement through portfolio movement.

• Conduct interviews, select, hire, train, and assign subordinate staff.

• Provide direction and mentorship; develop and communicate performance metrics to evaluate staff effectiveness, both as a group and individually.

• Assess performance and offer training and coaching to employees.

• Encourage each team member to engage in team life activities at OM, including events focused on prayer, fellowship, training and development, and task forces or working groups that promote cross-department collaboration.

• Carry out or assist with any tasks as required or directed.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of seven years in mega and major gifts development within a large, nationwide organization, ideally as part of a nationally-deployed team.

• Preferred experience in hiring, training, leading, and motivating a diverse team of major gift and planned giving professionals.

• Proven track record of directly soliciting and securing financial contributions from individuals and foundations at the six- and seven-figure levels.

• Capability to build effective relationships with senior leadership, field leaders, and board members, in addition to donors.

• Self-driven and results-oriented, exhibiting a positive, humble, and collaborative demeanor.

• Ability to communicate OM’s mission with clarity, conviction, and enthusiasm.

• Proven discretion in managing sensitive and confidential information.

• Exceptional communication skills, including the ability to write and speak clearly and effectively, as well as to listen actively.

• A Bachelor’s degree is required; CFRE certification is preferred.

• Demonstrates personal and professional integrity aligned with OM USA’s values.
