This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California, +7 more states.
• Take ownership of the legal review and negotiation processes for customer, partner, vendor, agency, publisher, and enterprise contracts.
• Collaborate closely with Sales, Partnerships, Customer Success, Marketplace, Finance, and Product teams to facilitate deals while safeguarding the company’s interests.
• Create scalable contract templates, playbooks, fallback positions, and approval workflows.
• Assist with enterprise sales initiatives, including MSAs, DPAs, security assessments, procurement redlines, and tailored commercial terms.
• Provide guidance on marketplace, affiliate, creator, influencer, and paid media partnership frameworks.
• Manage and update Levanta’s Terms of Service, Privacy Policy, creator terms, seller terms, marketplace regulations, and related platform guidelines.
• Advise Product and Engineering teams on legal matters concerning attribution, payments, data utilization, creator-brand relationships, affiliate programs, and platform expansion.
• Ensure compliance with privacy laws, data protection standards, advertising regulations, marketing practices, consumer protection laws, and platform partner obligations.
• Assist the organization in navigating evolving marketplaces and platforms such as Amazon, Walmart, TikTok Shop, Shopify, Meta, Google, and other ecosystem partners.
• Develop practical internal policies that facilitate business growth without unnecessary obstacles.
• Provide counsel on international growth, cross-border operations, and market-specific legal risks as Levanta expands globally.
• Collaborate with Finance, People, Product, and GTM teams on entity formation, EOR arrangements, contractor structures, employment risks, taxable presence, and local operational models.
• Oversee local counsel in priority areas and translate legal advice into clear, actionable business guidance.
• Support international agreements with customers, vendors, partners, creators, and agencies.
• Advise on cross-border data issues, privacy, employment matters, IP protection, payments, anti-bribery regulations, sanctions, and compliance considerations.
• Assist in developing internal policies and approval processes for international hiring, contracting, sales activities, and vendor management.
• Manage corporate governance, board approvals, equity matters, investor inquiries, financing support, and corporate administration.
• Collaborate with Finance and People teams on employment issues, contractor classification, equity management, compensation matters, and international hiring considerations.
• Handle disputes, claims, escalations, and legal risks across the organization.
• Supervise outside counsel to ensure legal expenditures are efficient and prioritized effectively.
• Contribute to preparing the company for future financing, strategic partnerships, mergers and acquisitions, and growth opportunities.
• A minimum of 5 years of legal experience, preferably with exposure to both top-tier law firms and in-house roles within technology companies.
• Extensive experience in SaaS, marketplaces, eCommerce, adtech, affiliate marketing, the creator economy, fintech/payments, or platform businesses.
• Strong background in commercial contracting, including enterprise SaaS agreements, partnership contracts, vendor agreements, DPAs, and platform terms.
• Experience advising high-growth startups or venture-backed enterprises.
• Familiarity with supporting international expansion, cross-border operations, or complex employment and contractor arrangements.
• Ability to operate as a true generalist across commercial, product, privacy, employment, corporate, international, and compliance issues.
• Strong business acumen with the capability to balance legal risks with speed and commercial objectives.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to distill complex legal issues into understandable terms for non-legal professionals.
• Low ego, high sense of ownership, and the readiness to be both strategic and hands-on.
• JD from an accredited law school and an active bar membership in good standing.
