Head of IT

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Austria.

📋 Description

• Lead and nurture the Frontend, Backend, and QA teams.

• Promote a culture centered around ownership, quality, and ongoing improvement.

• Establish team structures, processes, and career advancement paths.

• Provide guidance to leadership on technology strategy and investment choices.

• Oversee the technical architecture for exchange, portfolio management, custody, and analytics products.

• Make technical decisions regarding tools, frameworks, and infrastructure.

• Manage the platform-wide QA strategy, including test automation, release quality gates, and incident management.

• Enhance monitoring, observability, and incident response practices.

• Ensure that systems and processes comply with security and operational resilience standards for a MiCA-licensed CASP.

• Collaborate with compliance and legal teams on regulatory requirements, audits, and risk assessments.

• Set best practices for data protection, access management, and secure development.

• Convert the product roadmap into technical execution alongside product management and design.

• Communicate technology strategy, delivery updates, and critical decisions to senior leadership.

• Act as a liaison between engineering and the wider organization to promote transparency and alignment.

⛳️ Requirements

• Proven technology leader with a blend of engineering proficiency and people management skills.

• Experience in leading cross-functional engineering teams that encompass development and QA.

• Demonstrated success in international transformation and integration initiatives.

• Over 7 years of experience in software engineering.

• At least 3 years in an engineering leadership position such as Head of Engineering, Engineering Manager, CTO, or a comparable role.

• Strong practical backend development experience with C# / .NET.

• Good grasp of modern frontend development, preferably with Flutter.

• Experience in designing and managing cloud infrastructure on AWS.

• Familiarity with Vercel is an added advantage.

• Proven track record of establishing and scaling Agile delivery processes and QA practices.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.

• Ability to convey technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.

• Background in tax consultancy, fintech, digital assets, blockchain technology, or regulated financial sectors.

• Understanding of security, operational resilience, and compliance standards in regulated industries like MiCA, DORA, or ISO 27001.

• Experience with trading platforms, custody solutions, or high-availability financial systems.

• Experience collaborating with distributed, remote-first engineering teams across various time zones and communication cultures.

• Proficiency in German at a C1 level is a plus, but not mandatory.
