This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Australia.
• Oversee consolidated financial management within the Portable group, encompassing five to seven trading entities, subsidiaries, and the integration of newly acquired businesses.
• Provide monthly reporting and forecasting to the CEO, Senior Leadership Team (SLT), and Board, delivering analytical insights that inform decisions rather than merely documenting outcomes.
• Manage cash and working capital during a phase of acquisition activity, integration costs, and revenue growth.
• Ensure statutory compliance and year-end processes in collaboration with our external accountant, including management of the ATO relationship and readiness for audits.
• Offer financial support for the “buy-and-build” strategy by preparing and analyzing financial data for due diligence, assisting in valuation assessments and deal economics, and leading financial integration post-deal completion.
• Handle banking and facilities management, including daily banking relationships, facility and covenant compliance, and debt servicing, while collaborating with the CEO on acquisition finance structuring.
• Manage integration finance for acquired businesses, including chart of accounts, financial reporting, working capital harmonization, and assessing the commercial performance of each acquisition.
• Collaborate with the Director of Delivery on operating economics, including studio margins, utilization rates, sell rates, and project profitability.
• Develop pricing and commercial structures for significant proposals, especially for non-standard and complex commercial deals.
• Serve as a member of the Senior Leadership Team, functioning as an operating leader beyond just a finance head.
• Lead the finance team across offshore operations and manage the relationship with the external accountant, with the authority to reshape the function as the group expands.
• Provide coaching and commercial partnership to the Director of Delivery, aiding their transition to full operating P&L ownership over the next 12 to 18 months.
• Extensive senior finance experience in a services, agency, consultancy, or professional services environment—preferably in a business generating over $15M in revenue—as a financial controller, finance manager, finance director, or head of finance.
• Proficiency in group consolidation, statutory reporting, and ATO processes within the Australian context.
• Strong commercial acumen—able to interpret P&L statements in relation to pricing, utilization, margin, and team economics, beyond mere compliance.
• Proven or emerging leadership capabilities, equipped to lead teams directly in various contexts.
• Some familiarity with M&A processes—due diligence, completion accounts, or integration—or a solid commercial foundation with a willingness to develop in this area.
• Confidence in managing banking relationships—including facilities, covenants, and reporting—or readiness to take on these responsibilities.
• CA or CPA qualification, currently pursuing it, or equivalent experience.
• Experience in an agency or consulting environment, with an understanding of the dynamics that drive it.
• Technical knowledge relevant to our industry and the type of work we undertake.
• Experience with R&D Tax Incentives, especially in software or AI.
• We promote a flexible working environment, whether from home, the office, or a café.
• As a family-friendly company, we provide parental leave and part-time arrangements to accommodate responsibilities like school pick-ups and drop-offs or caring for sick children.
• Our feedback-friendly culture encourages open and respectful sharing of feedback to facilitate growth.
• We support our team in taking mental health days as personal leave without the need for explanation or a medical certificate.
• Our Employee Assistance Program with The Mindroom offers wellbeing check-ins, career planning assistance, and support for navigating challenging circumstances.
• Salary reviews are conducted biannually, with no minimum service period required.
• Team members can advance their careers through structured pathways, generous professional development allowances, and hands-on learning opportunities.
• Ongoing leadership coaching and development is available for leaders within the organization.
• Indigenous cultural awareness training is provided for our entire team.
• We engage in meaningful projects aimed at making a positive impact in the world.
• Our referral program allows team members to earn $1500 for each successful referral.
