Head of Editorial

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Florida.

📋 Description

• Oversee the entire editorial function for Zen Media and Optimum7.

• Manage editorial production for all programs (Published Monthly™, AI Notices, AI Reputation, and new AI initiatives).

• Develop editorial playbooks for new programs prior to their launch.

• Supervise the complete writing team, including writers, contractors, and freelancers.

• Serve as the final editorial checkpoint before client delivery or publication.

• Take charge of the editorial placement strategy and cultivate relationships with high-authority publications (DA 60+).

• Ensure compliance with and uphold editorial standards across all content.

• Establish and maintain writing standards for SEO, GEO (AI citability), AP Style, structure, and tone.

• Collaborate with the Head of PR and account teams on strategy and execution.

• Train writers in AI-first editorial practices.

• Craft significant high-impact pieces (bylines, launches, strategic thought leadership).

• Manage editorial performance metrics (quality, speed, citation impact, approval cycles).

⛳️ Requirements

• 7–10+ years of editorial experience (preferably as Managing Editor, Editorial Director, or Head of Content).

• Demonstrated experience in managing editorial teams (including writers and freelancers).

• Strong portfolio showcasing published editorial work (including ghostwriting) at DA 60+ outlets.

• Mastery of AP Style.

• Experience in B2B industries such as software, healthcare tech, manufacturing, services, and eCommerce.

• Solid understanding of SEO and AI citability (GEO / LLM extraction principles).

• High-level editorial judgment concerning tone, compliance, accuracy, and structure.

• Capability to manage multiple editorial calendars and deadlines at scale.

• Experience in enhancing and scaling writers and editorial systems.

• Calm and structured communication style with strong operational discipline.

• Preferred Experience:

• Established relationships with major trade or business editors (Forbes, Fast Company, WSJ, etc.).

• Experience creating editorial teams or style guides from the ground up.

• Familiarity with AI visibility, Answer Share™, and GEO frameworks.

• Experience with wire services (PR Newswire, Business Wire, GlobeNewswire).

• Knowledge of structured data, schema, and citation mechanics.

• Experience in launching editorial programs or content systems.
