This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United Kingdom.
• As a seasoned Head of Compliance, you will serve as the primary authority on compliance matters, ensuring that the organization adheres to regulatory requirements while fostering innovation.
• Your role will be pivotal in safeguarding both the organization and its clientele.
• Design, implement, and oversee the compliance framework, policies, and procedures, with a particular emphasis on the mortgage sector.
• Technology-Focused - Collaborate with the business to develop and deploy AI tools, enhancing the accuracy and efficiency of compliance operations.
• Complaints Handling - Promptly investigate and resolve any compliance-related issues or complaints effectively.
• Proactively monitor regulatory developments and industry best practices to maintain a sharp and effective compliance strategy.
• Serve as the expert across a diverse range of compliance areas, including compliance monitoring, conduct risk, TCF, SMCR, and FCA reporting.
• Collaborate with a team of brokers, underwriters, and leadership to offer guidance and training on compliance matters, ensuring the business remains future-ready.
• Review and monitor mortgage loan documentation, disclosures, and advertisements to guarantee clarity, fairness, and non-misleading content.
• Act as the principal liaison for regulatory authorities, managing all reports and documentation.
• A minimum of 7 years of experience in a compliance position within the financial services sector, particularly in Mortgages, Secured Loans, Mortgage Protection Insurance, or Bridging - ideally within a Brokerage.
• Currently functioning as SMF 16 or acting in place of the current SMF 16.
• In-depth knowledge of the UK's regulatory framework (FCA, etc.).
• Strong ability to identify potential compliance risks and formulate effective strategies to mitigate them.
• Exceptional communication skills – capable of simplifying complex compliance issues for diverse audiences.
• A proactive self-starter with the ability to effectively manage time and priorities in a dynamic, remote setting.
• Relevant experience or a degree in business, finance, or a related field is advantageous, and certifications such as the Certified Regulatory Compliance Manager (CRCM) are highly valued.
