Group Risk Specialist – Credit Risk Management

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Maine, +2 more states.

📋 Description

• Conduct Risk and Control Self-Assessments (RCSAs), control testing, management of issues, development and monitoring of Key Indicators, and governance of changes.

• Collaborate with 1A Credit Risk Management teams, Operational Risk 2A Partners, and other risk stakeholders to deliver timely outcomes.

• Prepare for and facilitate RCSA meetings with relevant stakeholders.

• Review RCSA documentation, procedures, operational risk reports, audit and regulatory findings, standards, guidelines, and training resources.

• Assign inherent risk ratings and draft control statements.

• Address challenges from risk partners and offer program guidance.

• Lead walkthrough meetings to evaluate the design effectiveness of controls.

• Define testing criteria and procedures; execute control testing.

• Identify control deficiencies and gaps, monitoring remediation until closure.

• Provide expertise in risk management and implement frameworks to reduce enterprise and business-wide risk exposures.

• Lead cross-functional teams and autonomously manage comprehensive functional programs.

• Develop and enforce standards, policies, and processes to identify, report, and mitigate operational risk exposures.

• Analyze potential risks, escalate key risks, and present findings and action plans to business executives.

• Offer ongoing operational risk analysis and reporting, reviewing results with business leaders.

• Coordinate and guide operational risk disciplines, including RCSA, business continuity, outsourcing and vendor management, regulatory compliance, and associated programs.

• Develop and track Key Risk Indicators and assist in resolving risk issues.

• Support areas of operational, market, credit, reputational, and regulatory risks.

• Provide commentary and oversight for policies, procedures, and practices.

• Conduct research and assist in creating presentations and communications for management.

• Analyze the effectiveness of programs and policies, recommending improvements.

• Lead or implement remediation plans addressing performance, risk, and governance concerns.

• Maintain relationships across different business lines and oversight functions.

• Monitor emerging issues, trends, and regulatory obligations.

• Act as a subject matter expert in enterprise initiatives.

• Facilitate knowledge transfer, team development, mentoring, and stakeholder relationships.

• Foster a positive, diverse, and equitable work environment.


⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor's degree or technical certification and/or over 7 years of relevant experience.

• Advanced understanding of risk management governance, programs, policies, practices, operational frameworks, and reporting.

• Familiarity with risk management environments, standards, regulations, and mitigation strategies.

• Awareness of current and emerging competitor and market trends.

• Ability to set goals and objectives that align with the strategic plan.

• Proficiency in leading, planning, implementing, and evaluating program and project activities.

• Skill in mentoring and coaching others.

• Advanced proficiency in using analytical software tools, data analysis techniques, and reporting methods.

• Competency in using computer applications, including MS Office.

• Strong oral and written communication skills.

• Ability to collaborate effectively and build relationships across teams and functions.

• Proven ability to work independently as well as part of a team.

• Sound judgment and decision-making capabilities.

• Ability to analyze, organize, and prioritize tasks while meeting multiple deadlines.

• Capability to handle confidential information with discretion.

• Experience with Risk and Control Self-Assessment (RCSA) is highly preferred.

• Occasional domestic travel may be required; no international travel expected.

• Continuous sedentary work involving multitasking, operating office equipment, concentration, reading, writing, comprehension, and basic arithmetic.

• Occasional physical activities including sitting-related movements, lifting/carrying items under 25 lbs., squatting, bending, reaching forward, and walking.
