This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Illinois, +1 more state.
• In the role of Graphic Designer I, you will significantly contribute to our mission by leveraging contemporary and popular design concepts, technologies, and tools to create visuals that embody our brand, alongside preparing files for production and overseeing technical specifications for materials ranging from advertisements to packaging.
• You will work in collaboration with freelancers, vendors, and team members throughout the ministry to produce deliverables aimed at engaging our current and prospective partners, members, churches, clubs, discipleship leaders, and children in Awana's mission and calls to action.
• You will excel in this position if you are capable of crafting persuasive visual stories and assisting the team with production tasks, all while having a passion for mission work that positively influences the lives of children and youth globally.
• This role is primarily remote, with some travel expected for strategic organizational meetings, including annual conferences and occasional photo shoots. The main travel locations will be our offices in St. Charles, IL, or Nashville, TN.
• A minimum of 2 years of proven experience in graphic design or visual communications, demonstrating a solid understanding of design principles, typography, color theory, layout, and composition.
• Proficiency in commonly used graphic design technologies, particularly Mac and Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, and Lightroom); knowledge of printing processes and technologies is also preferred.
• Demonstrated ability to effectively and artistically utilize design elements such as line, shape, space, color, scale, contrast, and typography.
• A Bachelor's degree (BA or BS) with a focus on Graphic Design, Visual Communications, or a related field from an accredited college or university is preferred but not mandatory.
• Experience collaborating with external vendors and printers, including preparing production-ready files and conducting thorough preflight checks.
• Occasional local and overnight travel may be necessary.
• A general understanding of the Bible and the Christian Church in its various forms is preferred.
• Familiarity with Awana Club, curriculum, resources, and solutions is an advantage!
• Eligibility to work in the United States is required; this position does not qualify for employment visa sponsorship.
• Must be a born-again Christian.
• Must possess a personal relationship with Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior.
• Must agree with the Awana Doctrinal Statement.
• Must be engaged in fellowship with the body of Christ through a local church.
• Regularly participates in reading the Holy Bible as a guide and standard for living.
