This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Nevada.
• Create compelling multimedia narratives through photography, videography, and well-crafted text that informs, entertains, and inspires our audience.
• Capture, edit, and distribute vertical videos tailored for platforms like Instagram Reels, TikTok, YouTube Shorts, and Facebook Stories, emphasizing audience growth and engagement.
• Oversee the rapid production of photo galleries and video content, ensuring prompt and precise delivery across both digital and social media channels.
• Collaborate with newsroom team members on story development, visual strategies, and innovative methods to enhance audience engagement.
• Evaluate audience data and trends to guide content decisions and optimize reach on rgj.com and social media platforms.
• Mentor and assist fellow journalists in fundamental photo and video editing, mobile journalism best practices, and modern media techniques.
• Bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism, visual media, or equivalent professional experience and education.
• A minimum of two years of experience in professional photography and videography, with a robust portfolio of vertical and social-first content.
• Proficiency in photo and video editing software (such as Photoshop, Adobe Premiere, After Effects, and mobile editing applications).
• Proven capability to shoot, edit, and publish using smartphones and advanced camera systems. The RGJ provides a comprehensive range of new Sony digital cameras and equipment.
• Documented success in increasing audience size and engagement on platforms such as Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, X, and Facebook.
• Ability to thrive in a dynamic, deadline-oriented newsroom while adapting to evolving priorities and technologies.
• Willingness to work nights, weekends, and respond to breaking news assignments as necessary.
• Strong understanding of journalism law, media ethics best practices, and a commitment to producing accurate and impactful storytelling.
• Valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and insurance as mandated by Nevada law.
