This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Burkina Faso, +5 more states.
• Design and execute strategies to engage, re-engage, and grow IGF membership throughout Africa.
• Establish and nurture strategic partnerships with member governments, focal points, regional organizations, and development partners.
• Manage government requests for technical assistance and facilitate communication between governments and IGF technical teams.
• Organize African involvement in the Annual General Meeting, Executive Committee activities, regional events, and bilateral discussions.
• Plan and coordinate consultations with member countries regarding IGF governance issues, including Executive Committee elections, governance reforms, and strategic initiatives.
• Create briefing notes, engagement reports, country profiles, and regional analyses.
• Forge strategic partnerships and assist with fundraising and donor engagement efforts.
• Act as a representative of the IGF at regional and international meetings and conferences.
• Work collaboratively with technical, communications, and project management teams to ensure cohesive delivery of IGF activities.
• Keep records of government engagement and assist in monitoring and reporting activities.
• Master’s degree or postgraduate qualification in international relations, political science, public administration, law, public policy, sustainable development, mining governance, or a related field.
• A minimum of five years of progressively responsible experience in government relations, diplomacy, stakeholder engagement, international development, or public policy.
• Experience collaborating with governments, regional organizations, or multilateral institutions, ideally within Africa.
• Proven track record in coordinating international meetings, technical assistance, or capacity-building initiatives.
• Exceptional organizational, planning, and project management abilities.
• Background in mining governance or sustainable development is preferred.
• Familiarity with African regional organizations or development finance institutions is a plus.
• Experience in supporting donor engagement and resource mobilization is advantageous.
• Strong relationship-building and diplomacy skills.
• Outstanding written and verbal communication abilities.
• Strong organizational and project coordination capabilities.
• Capacity to work independently and collaboratively within a multicultural setting.
• Strong political insight and cultural sensitivity.
• Proficient IT skills, including expertise in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint).
• Fluent written and spoken English and French.
• Proficiency in Portuguese and/or Arabic is a significant advantage.
• Knowledge of additional African languages is a valuable asset.
• Valid work authorization for the location where the candidate intends to be based, without sponsorship from IISD.
