This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Michigan.
• Design cost estimation tools based on fundamental principles and collaborate with fellow engineers to establish baseline physics-based costs for systems or components.
• Facilitate enterprise-level optimization by supplying powertrain optimization teams with these code-driven cost tools for inclusion in the optimization strategy.
• Create innovative prototype solutions that guarantee sourcing leverage aligns with design finalization and production schedule adherence.
• Lead internal make-or-buy evaluations in conjunction with advanced manufacturing teams to achieve the best outcomes.
• Collaborate with ADVEV GSM partners to innovate purchasing software and tools essential for managing suppliers, part updates, requirements, documentation, contracts, and more.
• Recognize and cultivate significant commercial partnerships across all levels of the supply chain.
• Promote a collaborative costing environment both within the engineering team and with supplier partners.
• Serve as a communication bridge with the engineering team to launch new products; engage in design reviews, change control meetings, and other technical discussions to evaluate and determine equipment needs and system requirements.
• Enable enterprise-wide optimization by partnering with engineering teams to strategically drive engineering decisions informed by current market trends, material sourcing alternatives, and total vehicle system trade-offs.
• Oversee and address any supply chain disruptions impacting early prototype builds and ongoing vehicle production.
• Bachelor's degree or its foreign equivalent in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related discipline, along with 7 years of progressive post-baccalaureate experience in the offered role or a related field.
• A minimum of 7 years of experience with each of the following skills is mandatory: 1. Proficient in advanced data analysis tools, including Excel (Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP, and macros) and Tableau. 2. Comprehensive understanding of end-to-end procurement processes, encompassing supplier identification, request for information (RFI), request for quotation (RFQ) execution, bid evaluation, cost benchmarking, total landed cost modeling, and purchase order management. 3. Expertise in contract negotiation and long-term supply agreements. 4. Experience in supplier development initiatives, including capability assessments, cost-reduction strategies, supplier scorecards, and continuous improvement efforts. 5. Familiarity with manufacturing processes such as injection molding, stamping, machining, die casting, and assembly. 6. Proven ability to lead cross-functional sourcing and industrialization projects using project management methodologies (Agile and Waterfall). 7. Competence in conducting should-cost analysis and root cause analysis (RCA) to address supply chain disruptions. 8. Experience in crafting and executing risk mitigation strategies related to supplier capacity, quality, and logistics.
• A minimum of 3 years of experience with each of the following skills is required: 1. Knowledge of quality systems and methodologies (ISO 9001 and IATF 16949), Production Part Approval Process (PPAP), and Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP). 2. Understanding of international trade regulations, customs clearance processes, Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS) classification, country-of-origin requirements, and Incoterms (FOB, DDP, and EXW) for international shipments.
