This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Minnesota.
• Serve as a reputable subject matter expert both internally and externally, showcasing extensive knowledge across various aspects of product sustainability and regulatory compliance.
• Stay updated on regulatory, sustainability, and industry-led advancements, and pinpoint trends through consistent monitoring and research of global standards, regulations, and engagement with industry groups.
• Shape regulatory and sustainability industry advancements and Assent’s opportunities by engaging proactively in trade associations, participating in working groups, building relationships, developing/updating standards, and acting as a thought leader at events.
• Collaborate with the Product Management team to discover opportunities for Assent to create impactful new products and software solutions by conveying regulatory compliance and sustainability market, customer, and industry insights while aligning with team and Assent objectives.
• Be a key contributor in the continuous development of Assent’s solutions, including leading the establishment of market best practices and recommendations for adopting practices that enhance the Assent SaaS Platform, overseeing the full cycle from design to delivery.
• Offer ongoing expertise and guidance to both internal and external stakeholders (through direct engagement or via Sales or Customer Success teams), including potential customers, to support compliance efforts and goals related to regulatory compliance and sustainability, effectively simplifying complex information to facilitate meaningful discussions across diverse audiences.
• Exhibit thought leadership and enhance Assent’s brand reputation as a trusted advisor by partnering with marketing teams to create external materials such as blog posts, white papers, webinars, and sales enablement resources, in addition to participating in third-party events like conferences and industry group meetings.
• Contribute to training programs and educational initiatives focused on product sustainability, addressing both regulatory compliance and market concerns.
• Over 12 years of hands-on experience in product sustainability, design for sustainability, life cycle assessment, circular economy, product stewardship, or ecodesign.
• A relevant post-secondary degree in Chemistry, Materials Science, Engineering, Environmental Law, Design for Environment, or a similarly pertinent field.
• Familiarity with manufacturing practices and experience in product design, certification and compliance, procurement, sustainability, or other product or supply chain management roles is preferred.
• Previous experience as a consultant or in an advisory role responsible for revenue generation is advantageous.
• Comprehensive knowledge of LCA software solutions (e.g., Sphera, One Click LCA, openLCA, SimaPro, etc.) is desirable.
• Proficiency in PCF/LCA Standards and industry-specific requirements, including PCRs.
• Experience in managing strategic product sustainability programs within a multinational organization that produces durable professional goods.
• Strong research, critical thinking, and analytical abilities; capable of processing and interpreting large volumes of complex information, including legal texts, identifying relevant business impacts, and summarizing critical information for non-compliance stakeholders.
• Excellent public speaking and presentation skills, with the ability to create content and tailor messaging to suit diverse audiences while supporting Sales, Marketing, and Product initiatives.
• Exceptional verbal and written communication skills in English are essential.
