Global Newsroom Editor, Content Lead

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Australia.

📋 Description

• Overseeing the entirety of the Canva Newsroom, which includes managing the editorial calendar, publishing schedule, newsletter initiatives, press-facing materials, and overall site experience, ensuring that each piece embodies Canva's voice and adheres to the highest editorial standards.

• Establishing and steering the editorial strategy during significant content events such as product launches, partnerships, acquisitions, and leadership announcements, collaborating closely with communications, marketing, product, AI, human resources, content, and engineering teams.

• Composing and refining a variety of formats: Newsroom articles, opinion pieces from founders and leadership, thought leadership content, organic social media captions for Canva's leadership and brand channels, newsletters, and communications within the community.

• Serving as a strategic content partner to senior executives, crafting copy in their unique voices and assisting them in becoming credible, consistent public figures across owned channels.

• Developing and leading Canva's leadership social media program, advising executives on their online presence, actively creating and producing content (including filming and editing), and establishing frameworks and best practices that create a repeatable standard for large-scale leadership storytelling.

• Directing the amplification strategy for Newsroom content, which includes press-first publishing, newsletter initiatives, executive social media distribution, and alignment with internal stakeholders.

• Cultivating and managing the Newsroom's thought leadership content, including overseeing contributor pipelines and ensuring editorial quality across both bylined and ghostwritten materials.


⛳️ Requirements

• Significant experience in editorial, content strategy, or communications—ideally covering both consumer and B2B audiences, with a proven record of independently managing programs.

• An outstanding writer and editor with keen narrative instincts and the capability to write confidently in others' voices across various formats and tones.

• A strategic thinker comfortable with setting direction, influencing stakeholders, and making editorial decisions with minimal oversight.

• Experience working with or advising senior leaders on their public voice and thought leadership.

• Practical experience in managing a CMS and a solid understanding of SEO and AEO best practices.

• A history of building or scaling a leadership social media program, with hands-on experience in producing social content, and an adept intuition for what engages social audiences.

• Strong project management skills with the ability to track multiple deliverables across teams and maintain schedules.

• Proficiency in content analytics and performance reporting, with the ability to extract insights from data across owned and social channels, utilizing these insights to guide editorial strategy and demonstrate impact.

• A collaborative partner who is easy to work with under pressure and approaches every piece of work with care and craft.

• Familiarity with Canva as both a product and a company, along with a genuine appreciation for the editorial standards of a press-facing platform.
