Global Mechanical Design Manager

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United Kingdom, +3 more states.

📋 Description

• Take ownership of Volta's mechanical design standards and reference architectures across the entire fleet.

• Evaluate and authorize project-specific mechanical design outputs in accordance with fleet standards.

• Spearhead technical decisions regarding cooling strategy, airflow management, and thermal design for high-density computing.

• Collaborate with the Precon / FEP team to define the mechanical scope and strategy during the initial planning phase.

• Work closely with equipment vendors to select cooling equipment, assess lead times, and ensure standardization.

• Assist the commissioning and DSX team by providing mechanical design insights for turn-up readiness.

• Oversee mechanical design consultants and assess their deliverables for quality and consistency.

• Integrate lessons learned from ongoing projects back into fleet-wide reference designs.

• Ensure that mechanical designs comply with relevant codes and efficiency standards across various jurisdictions.

⛳️ Requirements

• Extensive mechanical design experience in data center or mission-critical facility projects is crucial.

• Profound technical expertise in cooling systems for high-density computing environments (both air and liquid cooling).

• Proven experience in establishing or working within standardized design programs across multiple projects.

• A successful history of managing design consultants and evaluating engineering deliverables.

• Strong comprehension of how mechanical design choices influence cost, schedule, and constructability.

• Chartered engineer status or an equivalent professional qualification is advantageous.

• Openness to travel throughout the fleet as necessary.
