This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Oversee the governance and execution of global engagement with Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs) and external experts across various therapeutic areas and/or species.
• Establish and operationalize a compliant global KOL ecosystem that fosters scientific exchange, evidence generation, advisory insights, and coordinated regional engagement.
• Support and continuously enhance a global KOL data repository within Salesforce.
• Drive improvements in processes related to planning cycles, insight capture, and stakeholder satisfaction.
• Develop KOL AI profiling capabilities in Salesforce by utilizing factors such as scientific influence, clinical leadership, network centrality, publication/presentation impact, guideline participation, and unmet-need alignment.
• Implement and uphold governance for KOL engagement, ensuring compliance with SOPs, readiness for transparency reporting, contracting, documentation, and audit trails.
• Create comprehensive KOL profiles and engagement pathways that reflect individual preferences, conflicts of interest, and historical engagement.
• Collaborate with regional teams to validate KOL prioritization and local relevance.
• Maintain a global KOL strategy that aligns with therapeutic-area priorities, product lifecycle needs, and scientific communication strategies.
• Develop annual plans for KOL engagement that encompass segmentation, objectives, channels, cadence, and resource allocation.
• Identify and prioritize opportunities for engagement, including congresses, symposia, publications, advisory boards, speaker programs (where permitted), and digital interactions.
• Establish a closed-loop KOL insights process to capture, synthesize, triage, route, and track actions effectively.
• Define key performance indicators (KPIs) and dashboards to measure reach, engagement quality, insight yield, action conversion, geographic coverage, and lifecycle impact.
• Utilize analytics to enhance segmentation, engagement strategies, and resource distribution.
• Act as the global point of contact for KOL management.
• Provide guidance to regional and local KOL owners regarding tools, standards, and best practices.
• Facilitate alignment among Global Medical, Commercial, Diagnostics, Marketing, R&D, and external communication teams.
• A Bachelor’s degree is required; an advanced degree (DVM, PhD, or MSc) in a relevant scientific field is strongly preferred.
• 3–5+ years of experience in Medical Affairs, scientific engagement, or related roles in life sciences.
• At least 3 years of experience in KOL/external expert management.
• Proven experience in planning and executing compliant HCP/KOL engagements at country, regional, or global levels.
• In-depth understanding of industry compliance requirements, including those governing HCP interactions, transparency, fair market value, contracts, and privacy.
• Experience in a global or matrixed role that spans multiple geographies is preferred.
• Familiarity with KOL/CRM tools, stakeholder mapping methodologies, and analytics-driven engagement measurement is preferred.
• Experience in designing processes for converting insights into action and governance is preferred.
• Ability to manage strategic stakeholders and influence without direct authority.
• Cross-cultural effectiveness and a global perspective are essential.
• Capability to navigate ambiguity.
• Strong scientific/clinical literacy complemented by robust business acumen.
• Exceptional facilitation and leadership skills for advisory boards.
• High attention to detail, documentation discipline, and operational rigor are required.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Willingness to travel up to 20–30% of the time.
