Global Design & Data Visualization Specialist

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Europe.

📋 Description

• Create comprehensive global reports, fact sheets, newsletters, presentations, and other materials adhering to IEEFA templates and branding standards.

• Potentially assess and enhance the design of IEEFA templates, including PDF and HTML reports, fact sheets, PowerPoint presentations, webinar materials, social media graphics, and more.

• Collaborate with analysts to identify and develop visualizations, featuring clear and impactful charts, graphs, maps, explainers, and other visual elements.

• Design graphics and digital assets for IEEFA’s reports, website, social media, webinars, newsletters, short videos/animations, events, presentations, handbooks, and materials for partners and funders.

• Create visually engaging, shareable explainers that simplify IEEFA’s analyses for non-experts, utilizing maps, timelines, comparisons, long-form layouts, and various data journalism and visual storytelling methods.

• Offer light training and support to regional teams in utilizing templates and data visualization software like Flourish.

• Aid in the development of publication and design guidelines, training resources, and other materials in partnership with regional designers.

• Collaborate with regional teams to maintain design consistency across outputs.

• Undertake regional design, formatting, and data visualization assignments during times when regional teams are stretched thin.

• Temporarily serve as a part-time designer for regional teams over extended periods when necessary (e.g., during staff turnover, long leaves, busy periods, budget constraints), with periodic evaluations.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in graphic design, visual communications, data visualization, digital media, or a related field, accompanied by 4–7 years of pertinent professional experience.

• Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite, Microsoft Office templates, Flourish or comparable data visualization tools; familiarity with Canva and Drupal or similar platforms; knowledge of HTML/CSS, UX design, or website-related design implementation is advantageous.

• Skilled at recognizing opportunities for data visualization and experienced in transforming complex research, data, and technical content into clear, accurate, and accessible visual products.

• Capable of managing multiple design requests, meeting deadlines, and engaging with various stakeholders.

• A strong portfolio demonstrating high-quality design work across research reports, presentations, charts, maps, infographics, social media assets, digital products, and/or campaign materials.

• Excellent interpersonal skills, sound judgment, and a collaborative working approach, with the capacity to accept feedback gracefully, articulate design choices clearly, and work effectively with colleagues across different regions, roles, and time zones.

• Proficient in written and spoken English.

• Willingness to attend occasional early-morning or evening meetings with global colleagues.
