Global Data Center Operations Manager

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Netherlands.

📋 Description

• Recruit, build, and manage a team of facilities technicians and engineers tasked with overseeing the daily operations and maintenance of mechanical and electrical systems (UPS, generators, chillers, HVAC, electrical distribution).

• Create and execute all operational procedures — SOPs, MOPs, EOPs — and set the standards for global scalability.

• Take charge of site reliability and uptime; oversee incident response, conduct root-cause analyses, and facilitate post-incident reviews.

• Establish and monitor KPIs related to safety, availability, and operational efficiency; present findings to senior leadership.

• Collaborate with Construction and Design Engineering teams on the commissioning of new sites and infrastructure projects.

• Oversee vendor relationships, maintenance contracts, and on-call schedules.

• Propel continuous improvement by identifying inefficiencies and implementing solutions before they escalate into problems.

• Ensure compliance with applicable standards (ISO, SOC, ESG/sustainability requirements).

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 8 years of experience in data center operations, critical facilities, or mission-critical environments (backgrounds in power generation, industrial, or military are also considered).

• At least 5 years of experience managing technical teams in a 24/7 operational setting.

• Practical knowledge of MEP systems: power (UPS, generators, switchgear), cooling (chillers, HVAC, CRAC units), and electrical distribution.

• Proven experience in writing and implementing SOPs, MOPs, and maintenance programs.

• Proficient in establishing processes from the ground up in a dynamic environment.

• Strong communication skills — capable of engaging with engineering, construction, and executive stakeholders.

• Familiarity with DCIM/CMMS tools and change management processes.
