This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Kenya.
• You will utilize VIDA’s spatial analysis tools and adapt our software for real-world projects, focusing on energy access planning.
• You will enhance, automate, and expand our workflows using Python and SQL scripting.
• You will investigate, pre-process, and integrate new datasets and map layers into the VIDA software.
• You will research and implement innovative spatial data analysis techniques, such as Machine Learning methods and sector-specific modeling frameworks.
• You will ensure comprehensive documentation, reporting, and communication throughout all project phases.
• You will guarantee that project outputs (VIDA software products and reports) adhere to technical quality standards and are user-friendly for end-users.
• You will engage with our international project partners and clients, preparing and presenting your findings in reports and presentations.
• You will conduct workshops, training sessions, and meetings to foster alignment and adoption of project results.
• You will contribute GIS-based analytical work specifically for energy access initiatives in developing countries, translating geospatial insights into actionable planning recommendations.
• A Master's degree (M.Sc.) or equivalent qualification in energy, engineering, or science with an emphasis on spatial data analysis.
• At least 3-5 years of professional experience in geospatial data analysis, with a solid understanding of data structures, algorithms, tools, and the statistical and mathematical foundations of data science.
• A minimum of 1-2 years of professional experience in energy access projects, particularly in developing countries, with knowledge in areas such as rural electrification, least-cost electrification, mini-grid viability, SHS, and related planning strategies.
• Demonstrated experience in Geographic Information Systems (GIS) analytics, specifically related to energy access.
• Proficiency in Python for geospatial data analysis (e.g., geopandas, shapely, rasterio, gdal).
• Exceptional communication skills.
• Experience in writing technical reports related to geospatial data analyses.
• Fluency in English (both oral and written).
• An educational budget of 500€ per year that can be utilized for any learning resources.
• A setup budget of 500€ for any equipment of your choice.
