Geomatics Technician I

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Virginia.

📋 Description

• Primary focus on Point Cloud Registration & Processing.

• Import, register, and conduct quality control on scan projects utilizing Leica Register360 and Cyclone.

• Assist in point cloud registration and processing through NavVis Ivion.

• Gradually take on and shadow related data processing responsibilities across various software platforms.

• Contribute to the review process of OPUS reports and observations of control points.

• Aid in the evaluation of aerial photogrammetry and outputs from drone-captured imagery.

• Identify and implement methods to automate file handling processes.

• Discover opportunities to minimize manual processing time during point cloud registration.

• Enhance documentation practices to ensure processing decisions and quality control checks are traceable.

• Provide assistance with terrestrial 3D laser scanning.

• Support the coordination of field activities with internal teams and project stakeholders.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, geomatics, or a related technical discipline (or equivalent experience).

• Minimum of 2 years of experience in a technical, data-intensive, or built-environment-adjacent position (roles in project controls, field surveying, or similar are all acceptable).

• Proven expertise in data workflow tools relevant to the position (e.g., scripting, database management, or automation platforms).

• Strong documentation practices and quality assurance/quality control discipline; capable of quickly learning new specialized software.

• A valid driver's license is required.

• Willingness to engage in occasional fieldwork and travel (up to 50%).

• Previous hands-on experience in land surveying or site engineering is preferred.

• EIT certification or a comparable technical credential is preferred.

• Familiarity with LiDAR, photogrammetry, or point cloud concepts is preferred.
