Generator Field Technician – Commercial, LV/MV Electrical, Power Distribution, Mechanical, Microgrid, Data Center

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Illinois.

📋 Description

• Accountable for the routine upkeep and repair of both contracted and non-contracted generator and power distribution systems.

• Deliver technical assistance to clients regarding operational or maintenance inquiries.

• Engage in daily travel while working independently.

• Offer 24/7 'on-call' support as necessary, unless on PTO or Off Call.

• Execute the required preventative maintenance services for equipment under contract according to the schedule.

• Interact with and provide service to customers.

• Maintain and protect company-issued tools, equipment, and instruments.

• Conduct battery installations and replacements.

• Oversee and coordinate on-site subcontractors engaged by PSS.

⛳️ Requirements

• Minimum of three years of field experience in servicing generator systems.

• Experience working with generators rated at 500kw or more.

• Skilled in preventative maintenance protocols.

• Familiarity with retrofitting basic controls, performing minor ATS repairs, and load banking equipment.

• High School diploma or GED equivalent required.

• Related military experience or comparable field experience is a plus.

• Capability to perform triennial maintenance tasks.

• Proficient in engine diagnostics, fuel system priming, and replacing defective engine components.

• Operational knowledge of Automatic Transfer Systems.

• Ability to troubleshoot and repair with limited supervision.

• Competence in reading and interpreting electronic schematics.

• Experience with advanced generator and electrical system controls, including Woodward, Beckwith, and PLC equipment.

• Ability to read and understand technical instructions, safety manuals, and service manuals.

• Proficient with basic mathematical concepts.

• Must adhere to all safety regulations and standards.
