This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Arizona.
• Take charge of investigating and managing a complete caseload of CGL claims, which includes premises liability, slip and fall incidents, product liability, construction defects and related losses, as well as contractual liability exposures.
• Ensure timely resolution of claims through proactive file management, strategic planning, and adherence to best practices in diary management and documentation.
• Evaluate complex policy language, including insuring agreements, endorsements, exclusions (such as ongoing/completed operations and additional insured provisions), and limits to assess coverage applicability.
• Prepare clear and defensible coverage position letters, including reservation of rights and denial letters, in line with jurisdictional requirements and client expectations.
• Perform comprehensive liability investigations, which include: Reviewing and analyzing incident reports, contracts, lease agreements, and indemnification provisions; identifying and applying contractual risk transfer provisions; obtaining and assessing recorded statements, expert opinions, photographs, and surveillance; and evaluating injury severity, medical treatment, and long-term exposure through the review of medical records, bills, and independent medical evaluations (IMEs) when necessary.
• Set, maintain, and adjust reserves in accordance with claim developments and severity exposure.
• Handle litigated files, including the retention and guidance of defense counsel.
• Provide strategic oversight on litigation strategies, budgets, pleadings, discovery, and dispositive motions.
• Negotiate settlements within assigned authority while balancing cost containment and risk exposure.
• Identify, assess, and pursue risk transfer opportunities, which include: Additional insured tenders, contractual indemnity provisions, and subrogation potential; coordinate with coverage counsel, carriers, and third parties to optimize recovery and ensure proper liability allocation.
• Maintain proactive and professional communication with insureds, claimants, brokers, clients, and internal stakeholders.
• Ensure thorough, accurate, and timely file documentation to support claim decisions and audit readiness.
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience.
• Adjuster licensing as mandated by the jurisdiction(s) managed.
• A minimum of 5+ years of experience in handling commercial general liability claims is required; experience with litigated and construction-related claims is highly preferred.
• Strong knowledge of CGL coverage, policy interpretation, and jurisdictional variations.
• Experience in managing litigated claims and collaborating with defense counsel.
• Familiarity with construction defects, additional insured coverage, and risk transfer strategies.
• Ability to evaluate liability, damages, and exposure in complex loss situations.
• Strong negotiation and settlement capabilities.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to draft coverage correspondence and client reports.
• Proficient in claims systems and Microsoft Office applications.
• Demonstrated organizational skills, attention to detail, and effective time management.
• Capacity to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
