📋 Description

• Lead and cultivate Virta’s Legal team, establishing a high-performing function with defined priorities, robust operating rhythms, and the necessary capabilities to support company growth, enterprise risk management, and Virta’s next phase of scaling.

• Act as a strategic advisor to the executive team and Board on legal, regulatory, governance, and business issues.

• Collaborate closely with Commercial, Product, Clinical, People, Finance, and Operations teams to facilitate company growth.

• Oversee all corporate legal matters, encompassing governance, financing support, strategic transactions, litigation management, employment issues, and enterprise risk.

• Manage the healthcare regulatory and compliance strategy amid a rapidly changing landscape.

• Assist in preparing the organization for future public company demands, including governance, disclosure practices, and operational rigor.

• Support complex commercial contracts with enterprise customers, health plans, employers, and strategic partners.

• Develop scalable legal processes and infrastructure suitable for a high-growth organization.

• Modernize the legal function through the strategic integration of AI-enabled tools and workflows.

• Oversee and nurture relationships with outside counsel and any future expansion of the in-house legal team.

• Promote a practical, solutions-focused legal culture that harmonizes risk management with business agility.


⛳️ Requirements

• Extensive legal leadership experience within a high-growth, venture-backed technology or healthcare company.

• Proven experience as General Counsel or a senior legal leader in a company with over $200M in revenue and significant operational complexity.

• Strong commercial acumen and the ability to act as a business partner rather than merely a gatekeeper.

• Experience in supporting IPO readiness, serving as the primary or secondary legal leader throughout an IPO process, and/or working within a public company legal environment.

• Strong executive presence with the ability to influence cross-functional stakeholders and Boards.

• Demonstrated capability to function effectively in fast-paced, ambiguous situations.

• Proven experience in creating durable AI systems that address cross-functional challenges and provide measurable enhancements to business efficiency.

• A blend of strategic thought and readiness to engage hands-on when necessary.

• Experience in building and leading high-performing Legal teams.

• JD required; strong academic credentials preferred.

• Must be based in or willing to dedicate significant time to the SF Bay Area or Denver.
