This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Texas.

📋 Description

• Lead functional safety initiatives throughout the entire product lifecycle, from initial concept to production and post-deployment phases.

• Perform hazard analysis and risk assessments utilizing methodologies such as STPA, FMEA, and FTA.

• Establish and oversee functional safety requirements, ensuring proper traceability and adherence to compliance standards.

• Assist in the development of safety concepts, architectures, and safety cases.

• Collaborate with systems, software, and hardware teams to embed safety within designs.

• Propel the implementation and verification of risk mitigation strategies.

• Ensure conformity with relevant safety standards (e.g., ISO 26262, IEC 61508, or applicable domain-specific standards).

• Prepare and deliver safety analyses, reports, and documentation for leadership, clients, and regulatory entities.

• Conduct safety reviews, audits, and interdisciplinary discussions.

• Mentor junior engineers and guide stakeholders on best practices in safety.


⛳️ Requirements

• 8–12 years of experience in the field of functional safety engineering.

• Experience in one or more sectors: Autonomous systems/robotics, Automotive, Mining/heavy equipment, Agricultural machinery.

• Hands-on experience with STPA is strongly preferred.

• CFSE/CFSP/AFSP/Functional Safety Engineer certification or an equivalent qualification is preferred.

• Robust understanding of functional safety standards and lifecycle processes.

• Proficiency in risk assessment methods (STPA, FMEA, FTA).

• Knowledge of Safety Integrity Levels (SIL/ASIL).
