This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in North America.
• Collaborate with product managers, designers, and fellow engineers to create new features and improve existing applications.
• Design and develop both frontend and backend components utilizing JavaScript (Node.js) and Python.
• Create RESTful APIs and integrate them with third-party services as necessary.
• Write clean, maintainable, and efficient code that adheres to best practices and coding standards.
• Implement automated testing and ensure high code quality through regular code reviews and continuous integration.
• Enhance application performance and scalability to accommodate increasing user demands.
• Engage in the use and development of Large Language Models (LLMs) to boost our underwriters' productivity.
• Troubleshoot production issues using cutting-edge tools.
• Assist in guiding the direction of our small but expanding engineering team.
• A minimum of 3 years of experience in full stack development.
• Capability to facilitate and gather business requirements while proposing scalable engineering solutions.
• Strong ability to design data models based on use cases within the business domain.
• Proven track record of writing future-proof code, with a focus on maintainability and testability.
• Familiarity with CI/CD tools such as Github Actions, AWS Code Pipelines, Jenkins, or similar.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, along with strong organizational and time management abilities.
• Demonstrated capacity to prioritize and manage multiple tasks/projects simultaneously in alignment with organizational objectives/goals and meet deadlines.
• Previous experience in a startup environment.
• Proficiency in Python and JavaScript.
• Experience addressing challenges related to the insurance industry/domain.
• Knowledgeable in web technologies and frameworks (JS/TS, HTML, CSS/SCSS, Angular, React, Bootstrap, Node.js).
• Familiarity with containerization and orchestration technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).
