This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Maryland.
• Design and execute vehicle routing and scheduling algorithms utilizing OR-Tools to create optimal field assignments.
• Develop clustering algorithms to group workloads by geographical location, thereby minimizing travel time and cost.
• Implement constraint models (including capacity, time windows, skills, priorities, and survey rules) within the optimizer.
• Integrate the optimizer with the Mojo control system APIs for job intake, execution, and publishing results.
• Create both batch and real-time optimization modes to accommodate scheduled and on-demand routing needs.
• Refactor components of the optimizer into modular and extensible strategy interfaces to support new routing heuristics.
• Develop data preprocessing pipelines to standardize locations, distances, and travel matrices.
• Create automated test harnesses to validate solution correctness against established datasets and constraints.
• Implement scoring metrics for "solution quality" (such as distance, balance, SLA adherence, and cost) to assess the effectiveness of routing solutions.
• Establish regression benchmarks to compare the performance of new algorithms against baseline outputs.
• Incorporate parallel processing and scaling capabilities to manage large route sets and high agent counts.
• Add logging and metrics instrumentation to services for tracking runtime, solver performance, and solution quality.
• Package optimizer services for CI/CD deployment, ensuring reproducible builds and environment configurations.
• Document routing logic, constraints, integration points, and operational runbooks thoroughly.
• Provide support in production, including tuning and continuous enhancement of optimization heuristics and overall performance.
• Over 5 years of experience in designing and implementing routing, scheduling, or optimization systems.
• Strong foundation in algorithms, including graph theory, clustering, and heuristic/approximation techniques.
• Proficient in Python or Java for developing optimization services and supporting tools.
• Experience in building scalable, high-performance services integrated with enterprise control systems (e.g., Mojo).
• Proven ability to design test harnesses that validate both solution correctness and optimization quality.
• Experience in performance tuning, parallel processing, and managing large datasets.
• Familiarity with REST APIs, data pipelines, and integration patterns within systems.
• Experience in instrumenting systems for logging, metrics, and monitoring to enhance operational visibility.
• Capable of documenting algorithms, constraints, and operational procedures, and collaborating across engineering and operations teams.
