This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United Kingdom.
• Provide program-level and strategic oversight for one or more Medical Writing teams.
• Develop and articulate the strategic direction for Medical Writing groups.
• Recruit, engage, manage, and inspire team members.
• Establish organizational structure and communicate departmental goals and priorities.
• Drive changes in departmental scope, processes, and operations.
• Develop and oversee the departmental budget.
• Advocate for and promote the business needs of Medical Writing.
• Build relationships with other PPD departments and identify opportunities for cross-functional collaboration.
• Provide innovative, unique, and strategically aligned global ideas.
• Identify and cultivate new business opportunities in Medical Writing.
• Collaborate with business development and senior management to secure new business via client presentations, contract negotiations, proposals, and budgets.
• Address or escalate major project issues and risks to senior management.
• Prepare reports detailing significant project issues.
• Manage complex client relationship challenges.
• Take primary responsibility for the visibility and reputation of the Medical Writing group within PPD.
• A minimum of 15+ years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
• At least 7 years of management experience.
• Advanced leadership capabilities.
• Strong leadership skills including performance management, training, mentoring, directing, and motivating team members.
• Extensive business acumen and a comprehensive understanding of the organization and its functional areas.
• Excellent project management skills encompassing organizing, planning, budgeting, timeline development, resource allocation, and workload forecasting.
• In-depth knowledge of global/regional medical writing and regulatory requirements for clinical trials, marketing authorization, and late-phase procedures.
• Experience throughout the product development lifecycle.
• Ability to contribute to and drive strategic planning initiatives.
• Effective communication, logical reasoning, and influence skills.
• Innovative leadership in developing Medical Writing concepts and process enhancements.
• Proven ability to build teams, maintain collaborative relationships, initiate cross-functional mentoring, anticipate resistance, influence without authority, and represent at the senior level.
• Ability to communicate, negotiate, engage, and support potential clients and corporate leaders across various functional areas.
• Strong presentation capabilities.
