Frontend Engineer – React Native, Expo, JSI

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Argentina.

📋 Description

• Develop and sustain features within our Expo/React Native application (ando-employee-mobile), encompassing everything from the user interface to native module integration.

• Write and troubleshoot JSI/TurboModule and native module code for both iOS and Android when Expo's managed APIs do not suffice.

• Engage in AI-assisted engineering: leverage AI agents (Claude, MCP-based tools) as an integral part of your daily tasks for coding, debugging, and testing.

• Take ownership of performance-critical processes, such as list rendering, animations, and cold-start time, while profiling and resolving issues at the native bridge layer.

• Implement and enhance push notifications (expo-notifications), deep linking, and behavior management for background and foreground tasks, including cold-start deep links into chat.

• Oversee Expo SDK updates and ensure compatibility with native dependencies.

• Maintain EAS build and CI/CD workflows, including automated testing pipelines within EAS Workflows.

• Create Jest/React Native Testing Library coverage for hooks, screens, and native module wrappers.

• Diagnose and address crash and stability issues identified through Sentry.

• Collaborate with backend engineers concerning the mobile-facing REST/OpenAPI contract and work with designers on native-like UI patterns.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 4 years of professional React Native experience, including the development of apps built or ejected from Expo (bare workflow, config plugins, or EAS Build).

• Practical experience with JSI, TurboModules, or the creation of native modules in Swift/Objective-C and Kotlin/Java.

• Solid understanding of TypeScript and React fundamentals; adept at debugging across the JS/native boundary (Xcode, Android Studio, Flipper/React Native DevTools).

• Experience with push notification systems, deep linking, and managing background tasks on both iOS and Android platforms.

• Familiarity with mobile CI/CD processes (EAS Workflows, Fastlane, or similar) and the app store release pipeline.

• Startup mentality: a self-driven individual who excels independently and is truly comfortable with uncertainty.

• Strong testing instincts — experience with Jest, React Native Testing Library, and a preference for identifying regressions before deployment.

• Comfortable collaborating with a REST/OpenAPI contract shared with a Python/FastAPI backend and a Next.js web application.
