Front-End Web Engineer – Support & Maintenance, WordPress

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Deliver first-line technical assistance: Proactively monitor and address client support inquiries, prioritize bug fixes, clarify UI/UX specifications, and maintain robust, empathetic communication skills during live interactions.

• Handle a variety of high-volume projects: Navigate a vast array of simultaneous client projects. You will frequently shift focus throughout the day to address diverse support requests, implement immediate solutions, and deploy feature enhancements without compromising quality.

• Create and sustain enterprise front-ends: Update and maintain intricate WordPress themes and custom Gutenberg blocks utilizing React.js, modern CSS, and JavaScript.

• Improve UI/UX and legacy systems: Troubleshoot cross-browser problems, enhance responsive design and accessibility on older platforms, and ensure cohesive visual integration across various client websites.

• Contribute to and refine our product offerings: Assist in maintaining and improving the user interfaces and front-end integration of our public products such as ElasticPress.io and SiteWatch.

⛳️ Requirements

• You are an expert in front-end WordPress development. You possess extensive experience with modern CSS, JavaScript, React.js, and Gutenberg block creation, along with a strong foundational knowledge of PHP to navigate WordPress structures securely.

• You are a skilled communicator. You have a knack for articulating technical front-end concepts in layman's terms, exhibit strong empathy towards user issues, and excel in written communication with clients.

• You are an adept problem solver. You are proficient at debugging UI issues, resolving CSS/JS conflicts, optimizing legacy theme codebases, and ensuring compatibility across different browsers.

• You are flexible and exceptionally organized. You are capable of managing a substantial workload and a ticketing system, smoothly transitioning between 5 to 10 distinct client projects within a single day, while consistently delivering high-quality results amidst varying demands.

• You are a self-motivated individual and continuous learner. You are enthusiastic about exploring emerging front-end technologies, modern accessibility guidelines, and AI tools, applying this knowledge to effectively address practical client challenges.
