This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.
• Create clear, well-structured, and engaging lesson plans focused on students, along with supporting materials for teachers, in accordance with curriculum standards.
• Utilize a variety of teaching strategies, implement differentiated instruction, and employ diverse assessment techniques.
• Generate content that fosters inclusive, accessible, and student-centered learning environments.
• Design lessons that establish meaningful connections to students’ personal experiences and the surrounding world.
• Apply the principles of Universal Design for Learning (UDL) and Culturally Relevant and Responsive Pedagogy (CRRP) in lesson development.
• Work effectively within digital platforms to facilitate agile and rapid content creation.
• A background in K-12 education, with teaching experience preferred.
• Proven experience in developing lesson plans for K–12 students, or for a specific educational division—primary, junior, intermediate, or high school.
• Demonstrated knowledge of UDL and CRRP frameworks.
• Excellent writing, organizational, and time management abilities.
• Capability to design relevant, real-world learning experiences that appeal to a diverse range of learners.
• Comfort in collaborating within digital environments that require quick turnaround times.
• Familiarity with provincial or national curriculum standards is considered an advantage.
• All freelance work at Nelson is conducted on a work-for-hire basis, with freelancers submitting invoices for completed tasks and projects. Compensation varies based on experience and skill level, or may follow predetermined task-based flat rates.
