Fractional Controller

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Michigan.

📋 Description

• Supervise all accounting operations, encompassing accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and management of the general ledger.

• Generate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in compliance with GAAP.

• Oversee budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow assessments.

• Guarantee adherence to all local, state, and federal tax filing and reporting obligations.

• Manage property-level accounting and reconciliations for both owned and managed assets.

• Facilitate annual audits while upholding robust internal controls.

• Evaluate and authorize construction draw packages and loan compliance documentation.

• Collaborate with executive leadership to deliver strategic financial insights and guidance.

• Establish and enhance accounting systems and software (e.g., Yardi, Buildium, QuickBooks, etc.).

• Guide and mentor accounting personnel, promoting accuracy and professional development.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline (CPA or CMA is preferred).

• More than 7 years of progressive accounting experience, including a minimum of 3 years in a Controller or senior accounting position.

• Required experience in the real estate sector (property management, development, or investment).

• Strong grasp of GAAP and real estate financial frameworks.

• Expertise in real estate accounting software and proficiency in Excel.

• Exceptional analytical, organizational, and leadership capabilities.

• Strong communication skills to effectively engage with various departments and senior leadership.
