Founding Data Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United Kingdom.

📋 Description

• Redesign our data warehouse: take charge of the architecture, schemas, and essential datasets with streamlined pipelines and a cohesive event taxonomy developed in collaboration with Engineering.

• Provide reliable, reusable data products: foundational datasets that drive analytics, reporting, in-app functionalities, and AI, based on a joinable customer/account framework across product, billing, and customer service contexts.

• Establish data observability: implement quality checks, freshness monitoring, lineage tracking, schema evolution, and incident management, ensuring the business can rely on the data presented.

• Manage in-app reporting: deliver analytics features that empower support leaders to transform their data into informed decisions.

• Facilitate self-service: enhance our data layer, dashboards, and documentation so that every team can conduct their own analyses independently.

• Develop the retrieval layer that supports our AI agent's customer context.

• Collaborate across the organization: partner with GTM, CX, Product, and Engineering to convert inquiries into scalable models and datasets.

⛳️ Requirements

• Have constructed modern analytics stacks from the ground up (warehouse, transformations, semantic layer, governance), ideally on multiple occasions.

• Possess strong skills in SQL, BigQuery, and dbt/Dataform.

• Have a background in building user-facing analytics or AI retrieval layers utilizing real-time data platforms (e.g., Tinybird, ClickHouse).

• Value data quality, trustworthiness, and reusability as much as the speed of delivery.

• Show initiative and evaluate your work based on end-user impact rather than abstract elegance.

• Communicate effectively and foster alignment without relying on cumbersome processes.
