Forward Deployed Engineer – New Verticals

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Brazil.

📋 Description

• Collaborate with the General Manager and initial customers to determine the technical needs of the vertical.

• Develop the initial MVP of reusable patterns, integrations, and tools that future projects will utilize, maximizing our core platform where applicable and expanding it where the vertical demands innovation.

• Make architectural choices regarding what should reside in the platform layer versus what is specific to the vertical.

• Establish the foundational technical playbook so that future Field Development Engineers (FDEs) can build upon a solid base instead of starting from the ground up.

• Lead the inaugural customer interactions within the vertical, managing everything from technical scoping to delivery and post-launch support.

• Write high-quality code that addresses immediate customer challenges while contributing to reusable infrastructure.

• Navigate real-world complexities involving customer data, integrations, workflows, and stakeholder interactions.

• Convert disorganized customer requirements into sustainable and maintainable systems.

• Collaborate with Product and Engineering to identify which patterns from initial customer engagements should become integral platform capabilities.

• Identify repeatable use cases, infrastructure deficiencies, and product opportunities from active engagements.

• Assist in determining when the vertical is prepared to transition from custom delivery to a scalable product approach.

• Work in tandem with the General Manager or Solutions Lead to establish the vertical’s technical strategy and commercial direction.

• Collaborate with the Data Lab on domain-specific data and research inquiries.

• Work alongside other FDEs to share patterns, tools, and strategies that can be applied across different verticals.

• Act as the technical advocate for the vertical as it expands.

⛳️ Requirements

• Minimum of 3 years of engineering experience, including significant 0→1 contributions as a founding engineer, early technical lead, or builder in a highly uncertain environment.

• Strong generalist engineering instincts with an emphasis on backend and data.

• Practical experience with Python and SQL.

• Comfort in working across infrastructure, application logic, and data systems.

• Capability to create order in ambiguous situations and act swiftly without a fully defined plan.

• Strong technical judgment, particularly in balancing short-term delivery with long-term architectural goals.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to engage effectively with senior technical and business stakeholders.

• Ability to independently conduct technical scoping discussions with customers and translate those into actionable execution plans.
