Forward Deployed Engineer – Compliance

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Collaborate closely with Compliance leadership and frontline teams to pinpoint significant automation opportunities in areas such as transaction monitoring, sanctions screening, regulatory change management, and exam preparation.

• Quickly develop prototypes leveraging Coinbase's existing AI platform.

• Oversee the Compliance automation roadmap in partnership with the Chief Compliance Officer and Compliance leadership.

• Convert intricate regulatory workflows into engineering specifications and relay engineering limitations to stakeholders.

• Establish strategies for building versus buying Compliance tools.

• Ensure that automated compliance outputs are traceable, reviewable, and defensible to regulators by implementing auditability, approval gates, evidence retention, and human-in-the-loop controls.

• Promote adoption through informal training sessions, prototype demonstrations, and continuous feedback loops.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 5 years of software engineering experience delivering production systems in complex, stakeholder-driven environments; experience in greenfield projects is highly desirable.

• Practical experience in deploying LLM-based applications, including prompt engineering, evaluation frameworks, hallucination guardrails, and human-in-the-loop design for critical compliance outputs.

• Capability to work alongside non-technical domain experts, swiftly comprehend complex workflows, and translate them into engineering requirements.

• Understanding of compliance and regulatory systems concepts, such as transaction monitoring, sanctions screening, regulatory filing workflows, case management, and audit-ready data handling.

• Knowledge of multi-agent orchestration concepts, including agent handoffs, escalation processes, and auditability.

• Experience in Forward Deployed Engineering, Solutions Engineering, or embedded technical advisory roles, ideally within compliance-tech, RegTech, or financial services sectors.
