Forward Deployed Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Colorado, +4 more states.

📋 Description

• Oversee the implementation and configuration of software solutions in secure, classified settings to support US government clients. Collaborate closely with our engineering and product teams to integrate intricate systems and infrastructures.

• Act as the primary technical liaison for government clients and their contractors, ensuring their needs are satisfied while complying with stringent security protocols.

• Assist the 2F Program manager in creating and delivering technical contract CDRLs.

• Provide on-site troubleshooting and immediate hands-on support for client systems, addressing software bugs, hardware problems, and deployment issues.

• Ensure that all deployed systems conform to government security standards and regulatory frameworks, such as FedRAMP, NIST, and others. Stay informed about current security threats and advise clients on effective mitigation strategies.

• Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams, including engineering, DevOps, and security, to deliver secure and scalable solutions.

• Maintain clear and comprehensive documentation for system configurations, troubleshooting processes, and security compliance efforts.

• Monitor system performance, identify issues, and recommend optimizations to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of deployed solutions.

• Be present on-site at client locations for system deployments, updates, and troubleshooting during high-impact operational exercises, integrations, and training events. Travel to remote locations may be necessary.

• Up to 50% travel may be required occasionally to assist with critical client integrations.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 3-5 years of experience in systems deployment, engineering, or operations within highly regulated environments (government, defense, etc.).

• Proficiency in Linux (Ubuntu, CentOS, RedHat) server administration.

• Expertise in deploying, maintaining, and working with Kubernetes.

• Skill in maintaining and troubleshooting Helm charts within Kubernetes deployments.

• Experience in both on-premise and cloud environments (AWS, Azure, GCP).

• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, version control, and automation practices.

• Proficiency in networking concepts, including VPNs, VLANs, and firewalls.

• Experience in task automation using a programming language (e.g., Go, Rust, Python, Bash).

• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to engage with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

• Practical experience in deploying complex systems in cloud or on-premise environments.

• Strong understanding of security protocols and best practices, including encryption, firewalls, access control, and identity management.
