Forward Deployed Engineer, AI Enablement

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Develop tools for Internal Teams including CX, Finance, Ops, and Logistics.

• Create AI-powered solutions for Customer Experience teams to triage issues, provide context, and automate resolution workflows.

• Automate finance processes such as reconciliation, exception handling, and reporting workflows that are currently manual.

• Design ops and logistics tools, including dashboards, alerts, and intelligent interfaces to ease the manual workload on warehouse and transportation teams.

• Implement LLM-powered interfaces allowing non-technical teams to query, act upon, and retrieve insights from operational data without needing engineering support.

• Drive Workflow Automation.

• Build end-to-end automation pipelines: observe workflow → prototype → validate with domain experts → harden → deploy to production.

• Create agentic systems featuring proper logging, retries, monitoring, and edge case handling — ensuring robust functionality rather than scripts that fail silently.

• Facilitate integrations with internal systems (OMS, WMS, TMS, Billing) through APIs and event streams.

• Develop reusable automation modules that expedite future workflow initiatives across the organization.

• Enhance Developer Productivity with tooling.

• Create internal AI-driven tools that minimize friction throughout the engineering development lifecycle.

• Provide lightweight APIs and integrations that connect the systems engineers utilize daily.

• Build tools that empower engineers at Stord to write, review, and deploy code more efficiently using agentic workflows.

• Produce Internal Data and Analytics Products.

• Automate reporting and alerts to eliminate manual data extraction and analysis.

• Design dashboards and data products that deliver operational intelligence to the teams that need it.

• Develop self-serve data interfaces that diminish the back-and-forth communication between operational teams and engineering.

⛳️ Requirements

• TypeScript / Node.js (3+ years): Experience in production backend development. This is your primary tool of choice.

• Experience in agentic AI development: You have constructed AI agents that automate real workflows in production — no toys or demos.

• Familiarity with CLI-native workflows: Claude Code, Cursor, Codex, or an equivalent is your main development environment. This is a strict requirement.

• Proven LLM integration experience: Familiarity with OpenAI, Anthropic, or similar — including tool usage, structured outputs, prompt engineering, and error handling.

• API design & integration: You have created RESTful APIs from the ground up and integrated them with complex internal systems.

• Observability expertise: You equip your agents in production with logging, tracing, monitoring, and alerting. You can detect issues before users do.

• Advanced SQL skills with PostgreSQL: You can model data and write impactful queries.

• High agency: You recognize the problems worth solving, propose solutions, and drive projects to completion with minimal guidance.

• Production discipline: Quick iterations do not equate to fragile systems. You develop solutions that remain operational.

• Ownership & Accountability: You take full responsibility for features from start to finish and take pride in your deliverables. You follow through from design to production without dropping tasks.

• Strong Communication skills: You can articulate technical decisions and trade-offs to engineers, PMs, and stakeholders. You ask insightful questions and listen attentively.

• Collaborative Approach: You work effectively with others, provide constructive feedback during code reviews, and actively seek input from teammates.
