Forward Deployed Data Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Mexico.

📋 Description

• Manage 1–4 simultaneous data platform migration projects from start to finish, encompassing scoping, planning, execution, and customer transition.

• Act as the main point of contact for customers through regular weekly updates, managing stakeholder expectations, and escalating risks early.

• Set up Datafold's Migration Agent and supervise the execution of migrations.

• Collaborate with Datafold's engineering team to carry out migration tasks.

• Enhance and expand Datafold's product and delivery playbook as the team evolves.

• Develop a thorough understanding of customers' data platforms and eliminate obstacles to ensure on-time migration delivery.

• Leverage Datafold's proprietary AI tools to plan and execute migration projects, achieving results equivalent to a full consulting team.

⛳️ Requirements

• 3–6 years of experience in data consulting, professional services, or a customer-facing data engineering position.

• Exceptional communication skills for executive check-ins and technical design discussions.

• Strong understanding of the modern data stack, including dbt, Snowflake, Databricks, orchestration tools, stored procedures, streaming, and incremental processing.

• A mindset of extreme ownership: proactively identify, address, and resolve issues while motivating the team without explicit direction.

• Daily utilization of AI and a commitment to ongoing enhancement of AI effectiveness.

• Familiarity with legacy data stack methodologies such as ETL and stored procedures is a significant advantage.

• Experience in data platform migration projects is a valuable asset.
